Urban branding - Playful immersive storytelling.
The first thing we did when briefed by Visit Newbury was to visit Newbury. Sorry, I mean we visited ‘The Newbury’. It’s our local pub on Bartholomew Street. It’s important to immerse yourself in a new brief.
We think we know Newbury better than anybody so this brief was a doozy. But it wasn’t as easy as we thought. We know why we live and work in Newbury, but getting that distilled and into a suite of creative work designed to increase footfall was a real challenge.
If you want to persuade lots of people to do something, you can’t ignore TV. Our 30-second Sky TV advert accompanied various other above-the-line pieces. From Storyboard and scamps to complex broadcast requirements, we delivered it all. There was no escaping our message, especially if you lived in ‘other’ local shopping destinations. We hit them where it hurts.
Trains stations, billboards, flags, posters, city screens, radio – no medium was safe. ‘Newbury calling’ was a huge success. Mixing illustrations with real life, we told and sold the Newbury story to great effect.
